Welcome to Great Lakes Rotary President-Elect Learning Seminar
|
A great experience is being planned for you. Great Lakes Rotary PELS – a partnership of seven Rotary districts – will be your first opportunity as a president-elect to network and share ideas with other PE's outside your district and to learn from some of Rotary's prominent leaders. At Great Lakes Rotary PELS you will gain practical information to prepare you for your leadership year as a Rotary club president. PELS trainers have developed a curriculum based on years of experience and feedback from the previous attendees. That experience tells us club presidents-elect often feel some trepidation about handling their new role. Surveys tell us that after attending PELS confidence tops 95%. This year will be no different. You will be inspired! |

PELS is Required BUT that doesn't mean it can't be fun!
Every Rotary club president-elect is required to participate in a President-elect learning seminar each year. With that in mind, Great Lakes Rotary PELS designs the three day conference to truly benefit the attendees providing opportunities to learn about the breadth of Rotary and share ideas with fellow Rotarians and have some fun along the way!
As a seven-district president-elect learning seminar, Great Lakes Rotary PELS can attract engaging, motivating speakers and the best trainers and facilitators from each of the districts. The curriculum is frequently updated so new ideas are presented and discussed.
So much is covered in the three days, president-elect nominees (PN) are encouraged to attend and have a separate training track so the next year of training as a president-elect is not redundant. PN’s leave PELS prepared to create a 15 month plan so when it is their year to serve as club president a vision of what the club can do in one year is already in place.
RI's by-laws requires mandatory PELS attendance for all presidents-elect. You cannot serve if you have not attended PELS. If you are unable to attend Great Lakes Rotary PELS, immediately contact your district governor-elect to make arrangements to attend another PELS in a different region. It may be a single district PELS or another multi-district PELS in another state. It will be up to you to make those arrangements to meet the requires of RI. Be aware, however, opting not to attend one's own PELS but instead attending a PELS elsewhere is a joint decision which must be made in concert with your governor-elect. All PELS, world-wide, generally take place during a six-week window that runs from mid-February through the end of March.
To see a list of many of the multi-district PELS in North America go to the PETS Alliance.
